Red Sox sign Japanese reliever Saito from Dodgers – Yahoo! News

I don’t see how it is at all relevant to the story that he’s Japanese.  Isn’t it still the same news if you just say: “Red Sox sign reliever Saito from Dodgers”?  Would you ever say “Red Sox sign Dominican Reliever XXXXXX” or “Red Sox sign African-American Reliever YYYYY”.   Don’t get me wrong, I’m not playing the “race card” or anything like that, I just don’t get what his ethnicity has to do with the Red Sox signing him.
